During an interview with Zane Lowe on Apple Music, Olivia Rodrigo delved into the creative direction of her latest song. Reflecting on her musical influences, she revealed, “I grew up listening to a lot of heavier music, and it has always resonated with me. However, in my day-to-day life, I don’t often have the opportunity to express those feelings of anger and chaos, to embrace the messy side and disrupt things.” She continued, emphasizing the liberating power of music, “That’s why I find solace in music, because it allows me the freedom to convey emotions that may be suppressed in my everyday life. It’s an outlet where I can explore the raw and unfiltered aspects of my being.”

Olivia Rodrigo’s highly anticipated forthcoming album, titled “Guts,” is scheduled to be released on September 8 through Geffen Records. In her own words, the singer-songwriter describes the album as a reflection of “growing pains” and the journey of self-discovery. Elaborating on the album’s theme, Rodrigo shared in press materials, “Between the ages of 18 and 20, I feel like I experienced a decade’s worth of growth. It was a period filled with intense awkwardness and transformative changes. I believe that’s all a natural part of personal evolution, and I hope the album captures that essence.”
